"Mr President, here we have a classic case of where socialist dreams meet reality. From the hermetically sealed, artificially lit Chamber that we sit in, people decide to make plans and directives and legislation to change the world to achieve socialist utopia: fundamental social rights for children, women and workers all across the EU; a single European social model. Here’s the problem: until then, it’s all so far, so socialist heaven. However, the problem is that we all emerge from the womb free. It’s not for the government or the EU to tell us how free. We’re free to compete; we’re free to have different views; we’re free to do things differently in different countries. Let’s not stand in the way of human nature. Let’s compete, strive and struggle to improve ourselves."@en1
