"As national budgets for overseas development and humanitarian aid keep shrinking, due to austerity policies, the European Parliament takes account of the human rights challenges in many parts of the world and the EU’s commitment to ensure coherence between its policies, inside and outside the EU, with regard to human rights.
I commend my colleague Joseph Weidenholzer for his strong commitment to protect LGBTI rights, to demand respect for human rights standards in trade agreements.
I thank all the colleagues who helped with the inclusion of the annex reiterating the resolution passed by the European Parliament last year on the unlawful detention without trial of Irish citizen Ibrahim Halawa."@en1
