"I voted against this report, which sought to loosen the rules for approval of new breeding practices for plants and animals, and pesticides. The report effectively wanted to set aside certain ‘low-risk’ substances, that could side-step approval processes, without having subjected them to any risk analysis at all. Much of the report was an attempt to deregulate the approval process for pesticides which, in the light of recent controversies, is not at all appropriate. I also did not find statements about the need for intensification of food production to justify weakening current approval processes.
For these reasons I voted against."@en1
