"A Uachtaráin, arís vótáil mé le mo ghrúpa sna vótaí go léir agus glacadh leis ag an deireadh.
Without doubt the single market is there to promote competitiveness, innovation, growth and job creation, and it is vital that we ensure that the single market legislation is an effective well-designed policy, particularly now as we seek to continue along the path to economic recovery. It will set the right environment for businesses to prosper.
There are three aspects I just want to emphasise briefly. One: impact assessments, which have been mentioned already. These have to be careful and detailed and undertaken in a proper manner. Two: consultation with stakeholders is crucial, and again this has to be open, transparent and inclusive. Three: the legislation itself must be fully implemented. This is not always the case, and if we want to reap the benefits of the single European market, effective and high-quality implementation is crucial to realising a fully—functioning single market."@en1
