"A Uachtaráin, dar ndóigh vótáil mé ar son na tuarascála seo agus le mo ghrúpa sna vótaí go léir.
Now this is a topic I have been following for a number of years. I have to say that initially, when I saw the figures in relation to male and female entrepreneurs, I was very surprised at the disparity and I was wondering why there was such a disparity. Colleagues have pointed out some of the reasons, but one of them is confidence, and I that is something that has been ingrained over the years. Therefore, we have to change the circumstances; we have to remove the hurdles, as they are called in this report, so that males and females can become entrepreneurs on equal standing.
The same applies to access to finance. Again, there is a perception that maybe the female entrepreneurs are not getting the same opportunities to get finance as males do when they want to start up, and this obviously has to change. I think it is beginning to change. In my own country, Enterprise Ireland has platforms and supports women for women in business, these are all developing and absolutely vital, and we should encourage them."@en1
