It should be remembered, however, that this does not just mean connecting large cities to hubs such as Heathrow, Frankfurt and Amsterdam. Air transport provides a priceless lifeline from many Scottish highland and island communities to places such as Aberdeen, Inverness and Glasgow. In developing European integration, we should aim to be linking small communities to the rest of the world in as few transits as possible. This means encouraging routes from places like the Scottish cities to multiple international destinations."@en1
