"Madam President, this is my last contribution right now. So I think it is a good one because this is a day of celebration – celebration for the European Union, because we have shown very clearly that, when we work together, we can do so for the benefit of all citizens of Europe – and indeed all businesses – and particularly, as has been said, we are saying goodbye to roaming. This is something we have fought long and hard for, and it shows also the power of the European Parliament and the European Union that it can take on big businesses and defeat them for the benefit of consumers, because the roaming charges, which were excessive, are now going to end in 2017. That is certainly something to celebrate.
Also, as my colleague and rapporteur Pilar del Castillo said, it guarantees open internet, equal access and protects consumers. People have different views on net neutrality, but that is also enshrined in it from our point of view and I think most people agree with that."@en1
