At least 607 executions took place worldwide in 2014 and executions are occurring at an alarming rate in 2015. The death penalty is incompatible with fundamental values such as respect for human dignity and the rule of law, and so it is essential that the Union expresses in no uncertain terms that the practice is unacceptable."@en1
