While it emphasises that the EIB is not a commercial bank, it does have a very important role to play in financing very important developments and enterprises in Europe. I must also compliment the President and the Directors, because they facilitated a visit by my colleagues from Fine Gael in the EPP Group to Luxembourg a few months ago. They were very open and supportive and that is something that we appreciate. I am also very pleased to see emphasis being put on the role they can play, particularly in financing SMEs. It is part of the wider Juncker investment plan and I think more and more people are realising the important role the EIB plays and that it will play an even greater role in the future. I welcome their openness and their good work."@en1
