"I am deeply disappointed that we still haven't reformed the Common Agricultural Policy.
it is high time we shift to structural projects that bring jobs and growth.
For example, the EU is helping to roll out broad band in my region of West Midlands to bridge the digital gap between urban and rural areas.
Such projects offer more perspectives to people than direct payments ever could.
Responsible budgeting is key. I do welcome increased funds for research and development, but if we can't put our money where our mouth is, this undermines our credibility.
The strength of the EU resides in its ability to improve people's lives through strategic and coordination action - so why is this not reflected in our budget plans?"@en1
