"A Uachtaráin, bhí áthas orm tacaíocht a thabhairt do na moltaí seo go háirithe. Táim sásta gur glacadh leis na moltaí – an chuid is mó díobh ar aon nós. I must say that, as one who championed the 65 % health warning on the top of packages, I am very pleased that Parliament agreed to that today. I know that our Minister, Mr Reilly, and the Irish Government will be very pleased as well, as Ireland has been at the forefront in combating the fight against smoking and its ill effects. During the Irish Presidency especially, they made much progress in that regard. I think that today, Members showed that they can resist the power of lobbies when it comes to the health of our citizens and particularly the future of our young people. But allied to that, now that we have the basis for a strong legislative procedure we should also introduce a very robust educational programme to go with it, so that young people will not be lured into smoking and the health of our citizens will improve accordingly in the years to come."@en1
