"This report tackles some very important issues: making recommendations on combating corruption in the public and private sectors, tackling its impact on human rights in third countries and considering how the EU can lead the fight against organised crime and money laundering. The issue of organised crime, corruption and money laundering is one that we have also considered in my own committee, the Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee, so I fully appreciate the importance of the issues this report is tackling and I do support its aims. However I am afraid that on this occasion I cannot support the methods outlined within the report as I feel that they are overly prescriptive and as a result I voted to abstain."@en1
