When we first started discussing 2020 the key word was simplification. In recent times we have moved on from simplification to flexibility, and if we can implement those two aspirations then I think we will make much progress and ensure that monies are well spent for the benefit of our citizens.
GDP has been mentioned by my colleague Mr Gallagher as not being a perfect model, and certainly within regions there are often very poor areas. That is why the flexibility for local regions and local governments to work through groups like Leader to do what is best for their communities is so very important.
