"It depends on your perspective really, does it not? I would argue that there is no remit for a common fiscal policy. It has not been put to the people, either in a referendum or in any political way that I can see – certainly not in the United Kingdom.
In the United Kingdom, as you know, we have been promised but denied in reality a referendum for many years. I can only speak for the United Kingdom, but I would argue that there is no democratic remit for this and therefore you cannot push a common fiscal policy through.
