lpv:spoken text	"Mr President, as a Member of this Parliament for Northern Ireland, I welcome the committee’s amendments to the proposals, which would ensure that changes to the allocation of slots would be made in a manner that ensures connectivity between hub airports and regional airports. If this was to be lost to my constituency – for example, if we lost our direct links to Heathrow in London – it would be extremely detrimental to our economic well-being. In an ever-increasing global marketplace, access such as this is vital. Furthermore, giving slot preference to small airlines may also encourage foreign direct investment within our airports. In Northern Ireland that is also essential to our economy."@en1
