lpv:spoken text	"Mr President, we need to remember that the reasoning behind this proposal was to deal with the potential doubling of air passengers by 2030. We do need a better use of slots, particularly in the future, even if we are not struggling at the moment. However, I think we need to combine these measures with better use of other modes, particularly high-speed rail, on short-haul flights and for connecting flights, as well as of multi-hubbing, combined ticketing and making better use of regional airports. We have a lot of spare capacity at our regional airports. My main concern regarding the proposal was its potential to harm the regional airports with the possible use of more hub-to-hub flights and long-distance flights, as the last speaker said. Because of this I put in an amendment on behalf of my Group which was adopted, saying that regional connectivity shall be guaranteed in the trading of slots, but I will certainly follow up on this issue."@en1
