"I voted for this report because it recommends initiatives to achieve more effective prevention of illnesses and improvement of women’s health. The European population is ageing to an ever greater extent. 2012 is the European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between generations. The aim is to promote healthy ageing. Despite women living longer than men, the gap in healthy life expectancy between men and women is narrow. Women therefore need sufficient access to health care and home help to enable them to enjoy equal rights and live independent lives."@en1
