"Mr President, I want to ask why it is that, when 75% of the jobs in the EU and 99% of the companies in the EU and in my country – the United Kingdom – are small businesses, that we spend so much time and energy on the big businesses and neglect – to our detriment – small businesses, which are the engines of job creation? This excellent report by my friend Mr Zahradil points the way forward for us to actually back those people who personally take risks. Some of them mortgage their homes, get their families involved, have an idea and want to market it and turn it into job creation and wealth for that country, town or village. In this whole area, the role of the chambers of commerce in small towns and villages can play a very effective part in being able to access funds, finance, information and also the market. I think the Zahradil report and the Echeverria report, which we have just discussed, should come together, because one way forward in accessing markets, as we have heard, is through the single digital market."@en1
