".
For the European economy, car manufacturing is one of the last industries capable of providing a livelihood for a significant workforce. Europe has to distance itself from the erroneous economic policy that allows production to leave our economic community. The European Union needs a patriotic economic structure in which the car industry is particularly well protected. We definitely need some form of restructuring since European societies are facing new challenges in the wake of the economic crisis. I would like to emphasise that Hungary plays a leading role in this respect, where Mercedes and Audi investments have created numerous new jobs supplemented by infrastructure developments that are of use to everyone. It is vital that local small and medium-sized enterprises be given a greater role as suppliers."@en1
