". −
Card, internet and especially mobile payments are still subject to significant differences within the EU in terms of the use of electronic payment. Common technical and security standards could make it easier for new players to enter the field, promote the use of card payments and make card payments an easier, a more secure and more efficient option for consumers. As common technical standards within the EU are developed further, in relation to card payment schemes, for example, common security standards should be improved as well; this would be in the interests of consumers. As a member of the Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection I am very interested in ensuring that when customers make payments via the internet they can do so safely and therefore vote in favour of the report, which addresses in particular the security criteria applying within the EU that still require improvement."@en1
