"Mobility is one of the pillars of modern society and has been extensively promoted, not only among the young – look at the success of the Erasmus programme – but also in business terms (relocation and globalisation), and as a way of overcoming the economic and financial crisis. In fact, in recent years there has been a significant increase in the number of passengers carried, particularly in aviation due to the ‘low cost’ concept. This increase in the number of passengers carried has brought with it an increase in the number of problems in this sector. Every day hundreds of transport services are cancelled or delayed, causing serious complications for passengers (workers, students, tourists, etc.). Sometimes passengers are not aware of their rights, perhaps due to negligence on the part of the carriers themselves, particularly with regard to assistance when transport services are cancelled. In addition, information is not always correct, clear and available in multiple languages. I voted in favour because I agree with the need to implement a legislative framework ensuring respect for passenger rights, mainly easier access to information and support services."@en1
