"The European Parliament and I supported this report, which seeks to clarify the European Union’s budget for 2013. What might seem a simple administrative formality is, in fact, essential so as not to maintain certain programmes whose payments are stopping. Indeed, symbolic programmes such as Erasmus and projects that depend on the cohesion policy are short on funds. This situation is mainly due to poor administration by the national governments, which are seeking to reduce their contributions but are not dealing with the impact of these cuts on the citizens. The European Parliament rejects this, as demonstrated by this vote."@en1
