"I voted in favour of the proposal because: in 2010, in the EU, employment in the service sector accounted for 69.4% of all jobs and most of the female workforce is employed in the service sector (83.1% compared with 58.1% of the male workforce); women have limited opportunities to adapt to the requirements of labour markets in a modern, highly globalised world, in which a worker’s key attribute is mobility and the ability to move to take up a position outside his or her place of residence, which, in the case of women, who are more involved in caring for children and looking after the home, is often impossible, preventing them from taking full advantage of the opportunities offered by the labour market; and because, in the EU, women earn about 17.1% less than men."@en1
