"Almost half the women in employment are concentrated in 10 of the 130 occupations listed in the International Standard Classification of Occupations. This horizontal segregation follows certain stereotypes rooted in society, which assume that there are male and female jobs. Most people employed in jobs with flexible working hours are women. Part-time employment and temporary work are still predominantly female domains. In the EU, women earn 17.1% less than men, although the gender pay gap ranges between 3.2% and 30.9% in the Member States. Although 60% of university graduates are women, only one in seven members of the boards of major European companies are women (13.7%). Women account for a greater proportion than men of the informal economy in the service sector. There is particular concern about sexual harassment and abuse at work, as well as other types of violence against women. I voted for this report because it reports these situations and suggests measures for improving working conditions for women in the service sector."@en1
