It is important to do all that is humanly possible to reduce the likelihood of such accidents and to minimise their impact. In particular, there is a need for well-conceived safety management systems and emergency plans, so that major damage can be averted as and when necessary. In this context in particular it is essential that the relevant materials should be classified, identified and packaged in a uniform way. I voted in favour of the report because the safety level of the current directive is to be maintained."@en1
