". Based on the data supplied by the rapporteur, the unarguable conclusion is that there is a trade imbalance between China and the EU. The main question which we need to focus on is: ‘Is China obviously practising unfair competition against the EU?’ The social and economic growth which this country has enjoyed in recent years is linked to business, especially exports to Member States. In view of this rate of growth, it is paramount for Europe to maintain an open dialogue with China and raise the issue again of the restrictions preventing entry to the Chinese market because the need to cooperate is vitally important to both partners, and China must not ignore this truth. One problem whose scope has not decreased relates to all the counterfeit goods which arrive in the EU. The quality of these products is inferior as they are fakes of well-known brands and consumers can be easily misled. To ensure that citizens are not misled, I believe that we must encourage consumers to buy products made within the Member States, thereby reassuring consumers that the regulations for manufacturing them are observed and encouraging reindustrialisation and research policies in the EU."@en1
