As Mr Bradbourn highlighted, there is a tendency by the Commission to neglect the opportunities regional airports represent in terms of the integration and prosperity of the EU. You already know my commitment to the development of European regions. These airports can contribute to the revitalisation of local economies, which Europe desperately needs. Through this resolution, I am calling for better integration of small airports in the European central transport network, as they enable regions to become more dynamic and are a source of job creation. Using regional airports more would also take pressure off large airports, reducing their congestion. Furthermore, I have also pointed the finger at airline practices that involve adding charges during the online ticket reservation process, which amounts to tricking consumers while disadvantaging regional airports."@en1
