"I am in favour of this report as it is about using tools and systems made possible by information and communications technologies in order to make services more accessible and useful for citizens and businesses.
The Digital Agenda Scoreboard 2011 shows that 65% of people use the Internet. Of these, 40% use it to purchase goods and services, while 57% use it for online shopping. In the Europe 2020 strategy, eGovernment could be the future and might well be successful in meeting the requirements of posting information online, one- and two-way interaction and full online transactions.
So as to ensure the exchange of information through the web, thereby improving trust between Member States, the European Commission is committed to proposing a revision of the eSignature Directive to ensure cross-border recognition and interoperability. I agree with the proposal for a new mechanism for the construction of a Europe-wide digital infrastructure capable of transmitting data and information through the Internet."@en1
