"Mr President, on the global scale, women are on lower income levels, in vulnerable positions and at risk of exclusion more often than is the case with men. Consequently, the threats of climate change and the harm that it causes affect them more readily in their everyday lives and in the way in which they organise their lives.
On the other hand, women also play a crucial role in building sustainable consumption habits and lifestyles, in sustainable community planning, and in the fight against climate change. That is why, as it says in this report, it is especially important that women can be more deeply involved in policy making and, furthermore, in making choices with regard to climate policy. I am also pleased that it has become very much the will of Parliament to strengthen the position of women in climate policy."@en1
