"At the vote, I endorsed the next important step towards having a single seat for the European Parliament, as did most of my fellow Members. This is a further step towards bringing an end to the expensive problem of the European Parliament having three seats. Now the ball is in the Council’s court or, in other words, the governments of the Member States. It is high time to begin renegotiation of the Treaties, which will make it possible to concentrate on closing two of the European Parliament’s three seats. During a crisis and at a time of widespread budget cuts, this is absolutely essential. Neither the citizens nor the Members of the European Parliament accept the current situation. It is high time the situation also became intolerable to the leaders of the Member States."@en1
