"Although we all take drinking water for granted, it is not available to everyone in the world. However, it plays a key role in public health and environmental protection, so these should be priority areas for any adequate water-management policy. This is why adequate protection of drinking water resources is so important for human health and the fight against water pollution, limiting the amount of hazardous substances that enter the environment and drinking water-resource zones. In this new millennium, drinking water should be seen as a genuine fundamental right for all, so it deserves adequate protection in national, European and international legislation."@en1
