lpv:translated text	"− I voted in favour of this motion for a resolution. Relations between the EU and Kazakhstan are based on the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement signed in 1999. Negotiations on a new EU-Kazakhstan agreement, which would replace the agreement currently in force, were launched in 2011. Recently there has been increasing unrest in Kazakhstan, which is claiming people’s lives. Repressive measures have also been taken against trade union activities in the country, aggressive attacks against the independent media are continuing and the human rights situation in the country is rapidly worsening. I welcome the resolution’s calls for the Government of Kazakhstan to ensure an independent international investigation into the events in western Kazakhstan and to guarantee that those who organised these violent attacks will be punished."@en1
