The European Union’s struggle must adapt to the complexities of this phenomenon, targeting human trafficking, drugs and arms trafficking, as well as economic and financial crime, money laundering and corruption. The threats posed by criminal organisations in the EU range from the embezzlement of public funds to the contamination of the legal economy and the financial system, and so on. This motion for a resolution proposes the creation of a special committee on organised crime, corruption and money laundering. This committee will have a one-year mandate to investigate the contamination of the legal economy, the civil service and the EU financial system by organised crime, and to propose ways of combating it. On these grounds, I voted for this proposal for a decision."@en1
