lpv:translated text	"I voted for the resolution on EU development cooperation in support of the objective of universal energy access by 2030 because I think that not having access to energy services means no provision of decent living conditions, and this has a particular impact on women and children. In the least developed countries, only a minority of the population has access to the electricity grid, and small-scale, off-grid energy solutions offer the only viable way to provide universal energy access in the coming years. Renewable energy sources, and especially small off-grid solutions, have huge potential for providing reliable, sustainable and affordable energy services for the poor, particularly in rural areas of developing countries. The resolution urges the Commission and Member States to endorse and commit to supporting the (UN-created) international target of universal energy access by 2030, and to align their policies and development cooperation with this objective. It also encourages the Commission and Member States to support, through development cooperation and suitable financial instruments, the transfer of technologies, including technical knowledge, information, and good practices, appropriate for the delivery of modern energy services to the poor."@en1
