"The positive aspects of this report reside in its drawing attention to the vulnerability of women, in particular, in situations of war and armed conflict. Women are often the first victims of war, and are the targets of sexual violence, rape and other forms of aggression. We consider it important to make any recommendations that impede and prevent such aggression, so there is a need to ponder this serious problem specifically, as the report advocates. However, we cannot support the resolution’s statements that defend militarism and militarisation and put a positive spin on them, such as ‘Calls for the EU and the Member States actively to promote an increase in the number of women in [...] military [...] operations’. We are against imperialism, militarism and war, and we advocate a world of progress, peace and cooperation between peoples. We would therefore distance ourselves from the tone of this report."@en1
