"Daphne is an EU programme that cofinances projects designed to prevent violence against children and young people and women. The definition of violence is very broad and encompasses sexual abuse, violence in the family, economic exploitation, transportation, discrimination against disabled people, migrants, minorities and more. The current programme, ‘Daphne III’, receives funding of EUR 16.7 million per year and is very highly regarded beyond the EU. I abstained from voting because this report does not indicate which of the problems identified in the interim report are already under consideration for action by the European Commission and what the nature of this action is to be."@en1
