"The motion for a resolution on the EU-Russia Summit that has been adopted by Parliament looks forward to a summit of historical importance, because it will take place in conjunction with Russia’s accession to the World Trade Organisation. My position in this respect is wholly in favour, as this new opening will favour both internal development within Russia and the bilateral relations with the EU that will arise from it. The more favourable climate that will be brought about in relations, with the expansion of markets, the opening up to transport, short-stay visa liberalisation, and specific agreements on local traffic across the EU-Russia border, will undoubtedly be positive and profitable for all parties, and will, above all, reinforce foreign and security policy."@en1
