"Mr President, Ms Giannakou, I should like to hear your opinion on a matter which you, too, must surely have considered and I should like to hear the President of the Commission’s opinion on the same matter. We are enacting measures and the European Council has decided that those who infringe fiscal austerity should be subject to stricter sanctions. However, apart from fiscal infringements, there are the political decisions which sometimes have disastrous consequences, such as the Deauville decision which we recently withdrew.
My question is this: are we tightening up sanctions for fiscal offenders? How can we prevent decisions from being taken that might have disastrous consequences on the development of the crisis?"@en1
