"According to the report published by WHO and UNAIDS, 2.7 million people became infected with HIV in 2010 and 34 million people are living with HIV. HIV/AIDS prevention through effective information is still key. As the only means of effective prevention against HIV/AIDS, condoms should be made available free of charge or at an affordable price. Likewise, free and anonymous screening should be the main focus of a European prevention campaign. We should welcome the efforts made in sub-Saharan Africa, particularly in Rwanda, Namibia and Botswana, where there has been a 30% overall annual increase in the number of people receiving antiretroviral treatment. The economic crisis must not slow down or hinder the use of new technologies and new approaches to improving the efficiency and effectiveness of HIV-prevention programmes."@en1
