lpv:translated text	"The adoption of this report brings an end to a journey that began six years ago and is hugely significant for both Croatia and the European Union. The enlargement of the EU to include Croatia represents an opportunity for growth and development for both parties to the agreement. This is an important moment and one that concludes years of negotiations that have seen Croatia striving to build social and economic standards in line with the EU’s expectations and principles. It must not be forgotten that the political history of Croatia, as well as many other countries in the Balkans, reflects a difficult and complex path of building democracy. I am sure that today, a new journey has begun which will see, on the one hand, Croatia committed to improving its social sectors and, on the other, the European Union strengthened by enlargement incorporating a new Member State, according to the principles set out by our founding fathers in the awareness of the importance of being united in diversity."@en1
