"A clear distinction continues to be made between men and women with regard to work, working hours, seniority, industry, employer and certain types of contractual status. Women are more often hired to fill lower-paid positions, and this explains, from an economic point of view, why they bear greater responsibility for unpaid domestic work and why they are exposed to a higher risk of poverty than men.
In order to identify gender differences in working conditions, it is essential that we bear in mind the extremely rigid employment model for men and women. There should also be an assessment of the impact of gender-based policies, in order to ensure that any measures introduced do not exacerbate gender inequalities, but rather promote equality between men and women."@en1
