I voted for the second motion for a resolution, which we voted on today in plenary, two weeks before the United Nations summit in Durban, South Africa, because I believe that the compromise is a success. The EU has shown its intention to fight to continue the process that began with the Kyoto Protocol and to keep CO
emissions under control after 2012. The resolution carried by a large majority also states that going beyond the target of reducing emissions by 20% by the end of 2020 could boost the European economy and develop new investments in the renewable energy sectors, thus creating more jobs."@en1
