"In 2010, the Joint Parliamentary Assembly (JPA) convened twice: firstly from 6 June to 9 June in Tenerife, Spain, and, secondly, from 30 November to 3 December in Kinshasa, in the Democratic Republic of Congo. These meetings resulted in nine resolutions and a declaration on the second review of the Cotonou Partnership Agreement. In addition to these meetings, a regional meeting also took place in Mahé, in the Seychelles. In 2010, the importance of cooperation and partnership between the European Union and the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries was reaffirmed, in order to promote in-depth, open and democratic dialogue on the Cotonou Agreements and on the economic partnership agreements with the six ACP regions. I would stress the importance of the country and regional strategy papers on cooperation with the European Union until 2013, so I call on the JPA to contribute to achieving the Millennium Development Goals, stressing the crucial importance of adopting clear, effective and transparent legislation on the commitments made."@en1
