lpv:translated text	"This draft decision, which concerns adhesion to the Athens Convention relating to the Carriage of Passengers and their Luggage by Sea, aims to guarantee valid criteria regarding elements relating to liability as well as minimum insurance requirements. Insufficient regulation relative to this subject urged the Commission to propose in 2003 that the European Community became a contracting party to the Protocol of 2002 and that the Member States followed suit. I agree on the importance of respecting fundamental elements such as liability in the event of fault or negligence by the carrier and compulsory insurance, and I therefore vote in favour of the draft decision."@en1
