"The purpose of this report is to create an EU-Georgia common aviation area, which should come to replace the bilateral agreements that have been regulating air services between the parties to date. Part of the European neighbourhood policy, this agreement provides for all air carriers in the Union and Georgia being able, in future, to offer their services from anywhere in the Union to anywhere in Georgia. The Common Aviation Area Agreement between the European Union and its Member States and Georgia therefore offers a suitable regulatory framework for enabling airlines to increase the number of air links between the two territories, whilst operating with great freedom. It is estimated that, in the first year of application of the agreement, there will be 25 000 extra passengers with an overall economic benefit of EUR 17 million. I voted in favour for these reasons."@en1
