"I am voting in favour of the report on the recognition of professional qualifications, which is a step in the right direction if the free movement of persons is to work. If the professional qualifications that EU citizens have obtained through training or work in one Member State are not recognised in the other Member States, then, in my opinion, we cannot have a well-functioning internal market. As the demographics change as the population in Western Europe, on average, gets older, we need the internal market to work more than ever. I am in complete agreement with the report’s message that the most effective way to create a framework for free movement is to limit the number of regulated professions. I also agree that the way to more uniform rules is through the Internal Market Information system (IMI)."@en1
