Recently, increased bee mortality in the EU and throughout the world has led to a marked decrease in the number of bee colonies, which will have a negative impact on agriculture, food production and security, biodiversity, environmental sustainability and ecosystems. I welcome the call to increase the level of support for honeybee health-related research under the next financial framework (FP8) and to focus research on technological developments and disease prevention and control."@en1
