These trends are more pronounced in regions where the exodus of young people to attractive urban centres is more marked. As I am committed to the principle of social cohesion, which is at the heart of EU regional policy, I voted in favour of Kerstin Wetphal’s own-initiative report, which proposes that demographic change should become one of the priorities of this policy."@en1
