The Directive recast defines and modifies the minimum standards for the qualification and status of third country nationals or stateless persons as beneficiaries of international protection and the content of the protection granted. The main issues to be recast were the definition of family members, the best interest of the child, acceptable actors of protection (internal and international), grounds of persecution (including gender identity and sexual orientation), residence permits and social assistance.
