"I was disappointed to hear that the Slovak Parliament did not approve the European aid package the other day. This is not the first time we have witnessed petty, domestic party-political interests being given precedence over European interests. Socialist and liberal political groups chose to use the situation to topple the government rather than to stand up for common European interests. I would like to remind you of the time when ratification of the Treaty of Lisbon was taking place and the socialists were in government in Slovakia; they were only able to ratify the Treaty with the help of the Party of the Hungarian Coalition, the opposition party I represent. Now, they have not only put European interests at risk, but also Slovakia’s political prestige and international credibility."@en1
